The castles and fortresses of our country are stony witnesses of a bygone era and of a cultural heritage. In order to protect and secure the buildings, they are cared for and restored to preserve them for future generations. Rhineland-Palatinate looks back on an ancient cultural landscape with more than two thousand years of history.
A visit to the Ehrenburg castle in the Ehrbach valley offers an exciting tangible experience of the region’s cultural history. Also noteworthy is the Prussian fortress of Ehrenbreitstein in Koblenz, which in its heyday had already been considered a "must" for travellers.
